Meet the
Bowman’s…Matt, Marie and Ronnie
Matt has been
in the automotive industry for, well lets put it this way we
think his first diaper was a red shop towel! He started working
part time at Doug’s Car Care in 1988. After finishing high
school and some college, he started full time at Doug’s Car Care
in 1994. Matt worked with his father until 1999, at which time
he took over the family business.
Matt
participates in training and conferences to stay on top of the
changes in the automotive industry. He is an ASE Master
Technician, Under Car specialist and ASE Certified Service
Consultant. He is also the president of the local unit of the
Independent Garage Owners of NC which won the Outstanding
Achievement Award (2006) after reforming in 2005. Matt was also
honored with highest achievement award from the Independent
Garage Owners of NC, Man of the Year (2006).
Matt holds his
private pilot license and enjoys flying, as well as playing
guitar and computers. He also enjoys yard work, as long as it
involves his tractor. But his greatest joy is spending time
with his family, his wife Marie and son.
Marie has been
with Doug’s Car Care since 1998. She grew up in a military
family and transplanted to Onslow County courtesy of the US
Marine Corps. After graduating from Jacksonville High School,
she moved to Raleigh and attended NC State University where she
received a BS in Animal Science. Although she is working
outside her career, the principles of management are similar
despite the commodity. Of course a course in Auto 101 was in
order.
Marie is an
advocate of continuing education and participates in training to
keep up with the constant changes in the automotive industry.
She was recognized by the Independent Garage Owners of NC for
her contribution to the local Independent Garage Owners unit as
the first Woman of the Year (2006).
Marie enjoys
spending her free time reading, gardening, and horseback
riding. She also spends time caring for homeless animals and
finding them great homes. But her passion is her family, her
husband Matt and son.
